A rep for SBS told enews on December 29, “The 2011 SBS Gayo Daejun, which will take place today, will be relayed through social networking services such as SBS’ official Twitter and Facebook page.”
The service will include not only videos and photos of stars at the red carpet, but also those of stars behind the scenes and in their waiting rooms.
It will upload information immediately on what the singers are wearing, what they’re performing, small tidbits on the goings at the ceremony, videos that will not be broadcasted on TV and reactions from the audience.
SBS decided to provide the service because Korean singers have been largely active overseas, drawing global attention to Korean music shows.
The ceremony will feature many singers who were active this year including TVXQ, 2PM, Super Junior, 2NE1, Girls’ Generation, Wonder Girls, Kara, B2ST, miss A, Brown Eyed Girls and T-ara.
Starting with the Gayo Daejun, SBS plans to do the same for the SBS Entertainment Awards to be held on December 30, and the SBS Drama Awards to be held on December 31.
