Production for the new drama “The King,” starring Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi, has started with news of the two leads going to their first script reading session on January 26.
Producers revealed, “The production team and the actors of ‘The King’ gathered together for the first time and the atmosphere was pleasant and filled with laughter. Director Lee Jae Kyu led the reading in a very serious, yet considerate atmosphere.” They continued, “There was cooperation from everybody involved, from Director Lee to the senior and junior actors. They successfully completed the first reading session, which was held for approxmiately five hours.”
“The King” is set in an alternate universe, in which South Korea is still ruled by monarchy. Lee Seung Gi plays the prince who falls in love with Ha Ji Won’s character, a member of the North Korean Special Forces.
Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won’s participation in “The King” makes it one of the most anticipated dramas of the year. "The King" is set to premiere in March.
