On the February 28th airing of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Star Life Theater‘, Tony shared memories he had of his father.
His parents divorced when he was only 7 years old, and Tony went abroad to the States to live with his father.
“I slept at home maybe once every two nights,” he said. “I frequently slept at a friend’s house. I did not want to be at home, and I wanted to break free.”
“After my father passed away, I realized how naive and foolish I was,” he continued. “Even when he was sick with cancer in the hospital, I could not visit him frequently. I was working a lot back then. One time I went, but he had dementia and he did not even recognize who I was. He must have been so stressed,” he said, as the first tear slid down his cheek.
Tony could not stop the tears for some time, but he suddenly got up and began eating by himself at his kitchen table. Acting like nothing had happened, he said with a laugh, “This scene is too sad, don’t you think?”
Tony also talked about what his life was like as an entertainer and also as a businessman.
