Cable channel Mnet‘s music ranking program ‘M! Countdown‘ will be touring Japan in April.
Mnet revealed on March 1st that the program will hold a large scale concert titled ‘M! Countdown Hello Japan‘ on April 25th at Saitama Super Arena. This will be the third Japanese tour held by ‘M! Countdown;’ the first took place in Tokyo in 2006 with artists such as Lee Hyori, TVXQ, and Shinhwa to commemorate the opening of Mnet Japan, and the second in 2007 with artists Shin Seung Hoon and Big Bang, to name a few, also toured Tokyo.
In order to make this year’s event a true, joint Korea-Japan music festival, Mnet is collaborating with Japan’s first and best music channel, Space Shower TV, to host this event.
The ‘M! Countdown Hello Japan Tour’ is a way for Mnet to repay the Japanese fans for all the love they have shown ‘M! Countdown’ since Mnet first established Mnet Japan in 2006, and the tour includes MBLAQ, F.T. Island, and Supernova in its primary lineup, for good reasons: Supernova is arguably the best K-Pop group in Japan, as all 13 of their singles made it to the Top 6 on the Oricon charts since their debut. F.T. Island’s Christmas concert in Japan drew some 30,000 fans, and power idol group MBLAQ has received a lot of love in Japan.
A representative of Mnet also hinted, “Please look forward to our secondary lineup, which will feature more artists popular in both Korea and Japan.”
‘M! Countdown Hello Japan’ will air on Mnet, Space Shower TV, Mnet Japan, and tvN Asia, with plans to air on more channels. Tickets for the event will go on sale around the middle of March.
