Epik High Mithra Jin to Return from the Army



Epik High’s Mithra Jin (Choi Jin, 29) is finally returning to his fans on May 14On May 14, Mithra Jin will complete his mandatory military duties in the Defense Agency for Public Information Services division at the Seoul Yongsan Ministry of National Defense.

After finishing activities with Epik High’s album Epilogue, Mithra Jin entered the army in August of 2010 at the 102nd draft base in Chuncheon. After serving in the rifle infantry, the military band, and the general outpost, he will be ending his services at the Defense Agency for Public Information Services. 

On May 11, during an interview with the Defense Agency for Public Information Services blog, ‘Uh Wool Lim,’ when asked who in the higher ranks he will remember from the army, Mithra Jin replied, “The reserve force sergeant, Lee Joon Gi. He was very strict. He was a very upright man that made me think, ‘I hope I never act like him.’”

On who in the lower ranks will be the most upset about his military completion, he replied with Kim Ji Hoon, Yoo Seung Chan, and Park Hyo Shin, explaining, “Kim Ji Hoon and Yoo Seung Chan were in the same Agency together, so they’ll be sad, and Park Hyo Shin just get sad whenever someone returns to society.”

When asked about any plans to perform, Mithra Jin answered, “If possible, I hope to come back with a good album sometime this year.”

Meanwhile, with Mithra Jin’s return from the army, fans are anticipating whether or not Epik High will restart activities. Tablo has been working with YG Entertainment and DJ Tukutz has completed his military services last August. Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz’s contract with Woollim Entertainment had come to an end and the two are not contracted with any company at the moment.
