The event was held to celebrate the release of the group’s new single album Beautiful.
Beautiful gathered issues for being used in a commercial for Sempio’s black drinking vinegar before its release. After the album’s release on June 6, it managed to sell 140,000 copies in a week and rise to no. 1 on Tower Records’ weekly chart and no. 2 on Oricon’s.
Despite the rain, the Osaka high-five event on June 9 drew about 26,000 fans.
The Makuhari Messe event that followed on June 16 took place for a surprising six hours and 30 minutes with a bigger crowd of 70,000 fans, taking aback even the members at the passionate support.
The high-five events was the largest scale ever of 2PM’s high-five events.
Taecyeon wasn’t able to high-five his fans due to his arm injury, but instead, the staff gave out stickers of the ‘Ok Cat’, Ok Taecyeon’s trademark character, and Taecyeon bowed to his fans to say hi.
2PM told enews on June 19, “We’re always thankful because so many people love us and our new album. We’ll always put in our best efforts. Thank you.”
