BoA’s Influence on the SM Artists Evident in ′I AM′

‘It was short but impactful,’ such are the words being used to describe BoA’s appearance in the SM documentary movie I AMThough her appearance in the movie was short, fans were able to see, once more, how big of an influence she has in the SM agency.

On June 18 at Seoul’s Wangsimni’s CGV, the press conference for I AM was held. I AM is a documentary movie which shows SM artists Kangta, BoA, DBSK, SHINee, SNSD, f(x) and Super Junior from their trainee days up to their New York Madison Square Garden concert.

The documentary has attracted buzz and viewers from all parts of the world.

In the movie, BoA’s appearance is short but impactful. In the movie, various members of SNSD, SHINee, Super Junior and others are all seen saying they want to become like their senior BoA.

In one scene, SNSD’s Tiffany is seen at a 7th anniversary event for BoA’s debut congratulating her and revealing that Tiffany had wanted to become a singer because of BoA.

Recently on KBS’ Win Win BoA had appeared as a guest on the show where she revealed she was third in SM Entertainment’s hierarchy behind Yoo Young Jin and Kangta.

Her position and respect given in the agency was once again validated in the documentary movie by the other SM artists.

The movie also contains footage of BoA practicing her dancing before her debut as well as her past performances in Japan. In particular, a clip of BoA in 2001 in front of New York’s Madison Square Garden can be seen in which she says, “One day I hope I will perform here.”

Her wishes became reality in October of 2011 when BoA and her other SM artists performed at the famous venue for their SM Town in New York concert.

I AM will premiere in Korea on June 21.
