The athlete who claimed first with 47% (12,752) of the votes was none other than South Korea’s figure skating queen Kim Yuna, who won the 2010 Winter Olympics champion in Ladies’ Singles.
Those who had voted for the figure skating goddess wrote, “Kim Yuna has turned figure skating into a popular sport,” “Although she’s younger than me, I was truly moved by her performances. I remember when I felt proud of her,” “I was never interested in figure skating before, but through Kim Yuna, I realized just how beautiful and artistic a sport it is. Second place with 32% (8,845) of the votes went to South Korea’s soccer superstar, Park Ji Sung, followed by former MLB baseball player Park Chan Ho with 8% (2,170) of the votes.
Other athletes include Olympic swimmer Park Tae Hwan with 3% (943) of the votes, weightlifter Jang Mi Ran with 2% (616), golf player Park Sae Ri with 1% (394), former men’s Olympic marathon champion Hwang Young Cho with 1% (333), professional baseball player Choo Shin Soo with 1% (290), and short track speed skater Kim Dong Sung with 1% (165).
