Jung Il Woo received an official invitation to attend China’s Shanghai TV Festival.A rep from Jung Il Woo’s agency Soop Entertainment told enews on June 11, “[Jung] Il Woo was officially invited to the closing ceremony for the Shanghai TV Festival, which is currently underway. Il Woo is the only hallyu star to have received an invitation this year.”
The Shanghai TV Festival first started in 1988, and is in its 18th year. It is an event hosted by the Chinese government, and holds a market in which dramas can be sold and bought as well as a ceremony that awards the best pieces.
Jung Il Woo’s invitation to an event hosted by the Chinese government is said to be proof that he is indeed greatly popular in the area.
His popularity soared with the success of 49 Days and Flower Boy Ramen Shop, and he even appeared in China’s biggest variety talk show, Hunan TV’s Tian Tian Xiang Shang (天天向上).
The actor plans to leave for China on June 15 through Incheon International Airport.
