The June 24 broadcast of SBS’ Running Man had the members run in a race with the powers of the gods in a ‘war of the gods’. The episode was all the more meaningful as it featured actress Kim Hee Sun as a special guest for the show’s 100th episode.
Yoo Jae Suk again showed his consideration for his guest in the show.
The members were given the powers of the gods, and fought with their weapons and weaknesses in a game of nerves.
The winner in the end turned out to be Poseidon Yoo Jae Suk, whose weakness was water.
Aphrodite Kim Hee Sun, whose weakness was exposure, and Apollo Gary, whose weakness was his mark, fought between themselves and with Yoo Jae Suk until the end, but were taken down when they failed to eliminate God Yoo.
The prize turned out to be a golden grail, a giant prize fit for the 100th episode special. After receiving the golden grail, however, Yoo Jae Suk said, “I want to dedicate this trophy to Aphrodite,” and handed the grail to Kim Hee Sun.
Yoo Jae Suk also didn’t forget to be considerate toward the guests who had appeared in Running Man the past two years.
In the ‘guest room’, he mentioned the names of the picture panels of Park Ji Sung, Lee Min Jung, BoA, Choi Min Soo and other previous guests that were standing in the room.
At the end of the episode, he added, “We would like to thank Kim Hee Sun, who came to celebrate our 100th episode with us, and also the many guests who were with us up to the 100th episode.”
Running Man started up in July 2010 at the bottom of the viewership ratings chart, and slowly grew to stand tall as one of the nation’s representative variety shows. This was made possible thanks to Yoo Jae Suk’s consideration and modesty toward his guests. He isn’t, after all, called the ‘Nation’s MC’ for nothing.
