Lee Seung Gi’s Planned SBS Variety Show Gets Canned

Fans waiting to see Lee Seung Gi make a return to the variety world will have to wait a little longer. It was revealed on July 4 that Lee Seung Gi’s planned comeback variety program Table for 100 on SBS was canned.

According to a representative for SBS, “Table for 100 was recently decided it would not be produced. After extensive review it was decided Table for 100’s concept was not competitive.”
Table for 100 was originally created as a variety program comeback vehicle for Lee Seung Gi since exiting from Strong Heart in March.

The show’s premise had Lee Seung Gi touring Korea and enjoying each region’s cuisine in an outdoor variety program format and would have reunited Lee Seung Gi with director Shin Hyo Jung who he worked with in KBS’ 1 Night, 2 Days.

The show originally aimed to begin production in August with the first episode to premiere in September.

Despite the cancellation of Table for 100 sources from SBS’ variety program department said a new program was being developed for the singer/actor saying, “We are currently discussing a different idea and concept program [for Lee Seung Gi]. SBS views Lee Seung Gi’s star potentials very highly and with his variety skills so ahead of his young age, [SBS] is wanting to hold on to him.”
