SBS' new program "Survival Audition K-POP Star" earned good ratings thanks to BoA and maybe thanks to her tears as well.
During the first episode of "K-POP Star," which aired on December 4, there was a very touching moment when a blind contestant performed in front of the judges, JYP producer Park Jin Young, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk and SM Entertainment representative BoA, who could not help but shed tears watching the performance.
The show is aired on SBS after the variety show "Running Man" and it was planned to be a counterpart of the famous MBC program "I am a Singer". "K-POP Star" obtained a viewer rating of 10.7% and during BoA's moment of tears, it reached 18%, compared to the rival MBC show, which registered only 10.5%.
After the huge success of "Mnet Super Star K," many other TV channels tried to start an audition program and the latest attempt is from SBS. However, it seems that the new fresh start from the SBS show with the representatives of the biggest Korean music companies was not appealing enough.
Anyway, BoA's presence gave "K-POP Star" a special feeling about the show. BoA is an artist who is very difficult to see on Korean TV. Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young already had experiences on this kind of audition program thanks to the "Super Star K" series, but it was the first time for BoA. BoA was able to stand at the same level with the two producers/singers and she really made the difference in the show. Above all, BoA represents for the contestants as a real "sunbae" as she was trained from the young age of 13, she performed and worked in many Asian countries. Therefore, BoA is a person who experienced what the judges require to be the winner of this show.
According to the netizens, "BoA, as best dancer and as sensible person, made an unmissable show."
Meanwhile, BoA's new Japanese single "Milestone" will be officially released on December 7.
