On March 28th, it was officially announced that comedian Okamura Takashi will collaborate with South Korean girl group Girls’ Generation (known in Japan as Shoujo Jidai) for a 3-hour long special of theFuji TV variety show “Mecha×2 Iketeru!”
Okamura has long been known for being an avid fan of Girls’ Generation and already went to many of their concerts. In order to realize a collaboration with his beloved K-Pop group, which also is going to mark Girls’ Generation’s first appearance on a Japanese variety show, he and his team even were willing to travel to South Korea for the filming.
Calling themselves the ‘Okamura Takashi Exploration Party’, the ‘explorers’ traveled to Seoul in order to capture the descendants of the ancient ‘Shoujo Tribe’, who now exist in the modern age as Shoujo Jidai (Girls’ Generation). Okamura’s Ninety-Nine comedy partner Yabe Hiroyuki and other regular comedians on the show, such as Kato Koji, are also members of the exploration party.
Okamura’s heart is still racing shortly after the filming. He said, “They are so lovely. I don’t want to come back!” The group even held a live performance of “MR.TAXI” for him. “I want to meet them every week,” he exclaimed madly in love.
Fuji TV is going to air the special on March 31st.
