A Pink showed just how much they’ve matured since their debut a year ago with the release of their comeback album ‘Une Annee‘.
The girls sat down for an interview with Ilgan Sports. They dished on their progress, the disadvantages of their age, and dating. Check it out below!

Q. “You swept up all of the rookie awards.”
Eunji: “We actually didn’t anticipate the wins because so many talented girl groups had debuted at the same time as us. As it’s an award we had always wanted to earn, it gave us a deeper sense of responsibility and an opportunity to work even harder.”
Naeun: “I forgot all of the speeches we had prepared because we were so nervous when we won theMAMA award. When I broke out of my daze, I was going to thank my parents, but was cut off right as I was about to say ‘pa-’. I was sorry about that.”
Q. “Which member matured the most?”
Bomi: “Namjoo. Her talents didn’t shine as brightly in our debut album, but now she’s in full bloom. She has a way of singing deliciously, and she also got a lot of parts in our new album. She’s always rehearsing, and I think her efforts are finally seeing the light now.”
Q. “Eunji still has her Busan accent.”
Eunji: “I thought it’d fix itself on its own naturally, but I see that it doesn’t have any intentions to. I think it’s become my charm now as the other members think it’s fun and are also trying to learn it.”
Q. “Your average age is a year older now.”
Yookyung: “Our average age is now 19. The unnis are 20 years of age now, and they’ve all become so pretty as they’re losing their baby fat. I don’t want to become an adult yet though. Since I’m not able to enjoy my school days, I want time to go slowly. I’m more comfortable being cute and sweet on stage.”
Q. “What kind of track is ‘Hush‘?”
Namjoo: “It’s about shyly confessing to your crush. A Pink’s cute style translated well into the song. Genre wise, I guess you could call it disco with a retro feel. The T-ara seniors are mostly known for retro, but I think ‘Hush’ has a color unique to A Pink. There’s a nice combination of cuteness and sexiness.”
Q. “You seem to have matured musically as well.”
Naeun: “We’ve become more daring with more individuality. Namjoo and Chorong unni even rap.”
Chorong: “It’s not rapping as much as it is talking fast. Our dongsengs are really good at looking chic and confident in their gaze or gestures. They must’ve practiced alone in the bathroom.”
Q. “Will your fans like a sexy image?”
Yookyung: “Our fans are very traditional and don’t want sexy concepts. Before the release of our album, we released a Twitter selca of ourselves wearing red heels. Some fans commented that they wouldn’t be our fans anymore if we kept looking sexy, haha. I think we’ll never be able to date at this point.”
Q. “So your goal is to win on a music program?”
Eunji: “We luckily won first place last time. Our goal is to become a trend like Busker Busker. No matter what street you turn on, you can hear ‘Yeosu’s Night Ocean‘ or ‘Cherry Blossom Ending‘ being played. I hope that ‘Hush’ can be played in the streets nationwide too.”
Q. “You’re now of the age where you can drink.”
Chorong: “I want to have a drink with the members sometimes, but I can’t because we have minors. I’m 21 now and haven’t been to a club yet. Our director said he’d take me on my birthday, but they were all just words. Whenever I want to go to a club, I just turn on the music really loud and dance with the lights off in my room. The maknaes will flicker the lights to add to the atmosphere.”
Namjoo: “The unnis can’t drink because of us. I think it’d be fun just watching them drink, but they just say cheers with fresh fruit juice.”
Q. “Are there any members who are dating?”
A Pink: “Our ‘dating cells’ have not generated yet. We actually don’t even talk about guys amongst ourselves. Our main topics are related to our promotions because we don’t have any interest in things outside of music as of now.”
