VerbalJint and Double K to Clash in ‘Show Me the Money’

It seems like every great man is in hip-hop. Women in their 20s and 30s have started to pay attention to hip-hop, as rappers with good looks and skills have continued to pop up in the genre - two men who stand out in the scene? VerbalJint and Double K.

The two are drawing interest after confirming that they will be appearing in a program about hip-hop.

The rappers will appear on the June 22 broadcast of Mnet’s Show Me the Money, the show’s first, as musicians representing hip-hop.

Eight of the best rapper teams in Korea, including Garion, and some rookie rappers that they picked out will team up in a performance, and fight to advance to the next round on standards based entirely on audience reviews.

Because it’s the first music show in a long time for hip-hoppers, who weren’t until now considered to be mainstream, many hip-hop musicians confirmed that they would appear in the show.

VerbalJint and Double K also decided to make appearances believing that it was a great chance to revive hip-hop in Korea again.

Rappers are usually thought to be big guys with black clothes and fancy props, but VerbalJint is just the opposite.

He graduated from Hanyoung Foreign Language High School, Seoul University and Hanyang University’s School of Law.

He’s also active as the voice of many popular commercials. His slim figure and clean-cut looks, as well as his skills and background, have always drawn great attention.

Double K is also known for similar reasons. He graduated from Joongbu University’s Advertising & PR department, and as soon as he debuted in 2004 he was chosen as ‘The biggest rookie of the year’ by Mnet and KMTV.

He continues to blaze a trail with his popular music even among fellow musicians and fans, and has worked with the big names Lee Hyori, Bobby Kim, LeeSsang and Drunken Tiger.

The appearance of such new styles of hip-hop figures is expected to diversify the fan base of hip-hop and revive it in the eyes of the public yet again.

One official from an agency that specializes in hip-hop told enews on June 15, “We believe that the appearance of such singers like VerbalJint and Double K who can grab female fans’ hearts will have a positive effect on hip-hop in general. These singers are drawing more fans in their 20s and 30s to hip-hop. It’s very encouraging.”

Fans and the hip-hop scene are fixing their attention on how VerbalJint and Double K will fare in one of their rare television appearances, Show Me the Money.
