After School’s Jooyeon admitted to the hospital for acute nephritis

After School‘s Jooyeon was admitted to the hospital for acute nephritis (or inflammation of the kidneys).
On November 22nd, Pledis Entertainment revealed that Jooyeon experienced pain while rehearsing for the ‘2011 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards‘ on the 21st. The pain prompted a hospital exam, where she was diagnosed with acute nephritis. Jooyeon was forced to pull out from participating in the awards, and will be recuperating at the hospital.
Pledis stated, “Jooyeon has temporarily stopped promotional activities and is getting treated at the hospital, as the doctor recommended. It’s an illness that can be cured quickly through a simple process of medication and rest, so please don’t worry too much.”
After School’s Japanese agency, avex, has also stated, “Although After School is supposed to start Japanese promotions at the end of November, we think that the artist’s recovery is more important. So rather than immediate promotional activities, we have decided on rest… Jooyeon insisted on participating in the Japanese promotions, but she has been dissuaded from doing so.”
Fans commented, “I hope you recover quickly” and “Jooyeon-unni, I will cheer you on in hopes of seeing you on stage again quickly.”
After School will be kicking off their Japanese promotions with the release of their new single, ‘Diva’, on November 23rd. Jooyeon will join the rest of the group once she fully recovers.
