YG Entertainment‘s Yang Hyun Suk got playfully called out by SM Entertainment‘s BoA and JYP Entertainment‘s J.Y. Park on the latest episode of SBS‘s ‘K-pop Star‘.
The two noticed his indiscreet favoritism towards contestants who he personally trained on the show.
It all started when the first group stepped onto the audition stage including contestants: Kim Na Yoon,Son Mi Jin, and Lee Seung Joo. Before the audition commenced, YG increased anticipation for Kim Na Yoon who he personally trained for weeks prior to the audition. He stated, “Because Son Mi Jin and Lee Seung Joo are talented singers, viewers might believe that Kim Na Yoon is at a disadvantage. However, Kim Na Yoon’s got a secret weapon up her sleeve. I think it would be alright if the audience watches on with some anticipation. I hope you do your best.”
J.Y. Park who caught onto something lifted his microphone the instant Yang Hyun Suk put his down stating, ”I noticed that you keep giving pressure to the other contestants…indirectly.”
BoA immediately agreed and boldly stated the following in a loud voice. ”Yes, he gives pressure to the other contestants and boosts anticipation for his OWN trainee. That’s unfair!”
Startled, Yang Hyun Suk stated with a weak voice, “that’s not true~“, but was backed down by the onslaught of the other two judges. J.Y. Park playfully complained, “I thought it was a mere coincidence at first… but I noticed that he keeps doing it” to which BoA replied, “Yes! he keeps doing that. It must have been his plan all along.”
A little embarrassed by the situation, Yang Hyun Suk just laughed it off. ”Ok shall we begin?“, he briefly stated.
Fortunately, the comedy didn’t end there. After Kim Na Yoon swept the first spot with a powerful rendition of ‘Hit the Road Jack‘ by Ray Charles, Yang Hyun Suk couldn’t help but have a HUGE smile on his face.
Unable to hide his emotions, Yang Hyun Suk rubbed it in to BoA and J.Y. Park by saying, “You know when a coach is truly happy? When his artist does well on stage.” Envious, J.Y. Park grabbed his mic again and promptly replied back, “Hmm that’s interesting…I feel happy when I do well” along with some playful eye glaring.
