Idol stars’ secret to transforming into successful actors and actresses revealed

The idol stars who have expanded their careers into successful actors and actresses seem to have the common traits of being sincere with an earnest attitude.

These days, the idol stars’ transformations into actors and actresses isn’t so much of a choice as it is a necessity. Once the idol stars make their names known, they very naturally begin making appearances in drama series. It’s to the point where it’s difficult to find new dramas without the inclusion of an idol star, and as the number of idol stars making their small-screen debut increases, the number of K-Pop stars who have successfully transformed into ‘acting idols’ also increase in number.
Park YoochunSuzyKim Jaejoong, and Lim Siwan are the four idol stars who have all made it as actors and actresses.
Their success is credited to their acting talent, which they were able to easily pick up thanks to their sincere and earnest attitudes. These stars put aside the fame and popularity they built as artists and took on a more humble attitude as rookie actors. They soaked up the advice given to them by their senior actors and actresses, and learned as much as they could.
When Park Yoochun first made his small-screen debut through KBS 2TV‘s ‘Sung Kyun Kwan Scandal‘, there were some concerns as to whether they made a mistake by giving him (an idol singer and inexperienced actor) too big of a role. But with his sincere attitude, Park Yoochun put all those concerns to rest. Actress Park Min Young remarked, “He was thoroughly prepared since the first script reading session. Being a singer, he had no trouble with proper breathing and vocalization.
There was a lot of room for improvement in the beginning, as it was his first attempt at acting, but he only got better as time went on. This is due to his strong determination to learn as much as he could as a rookie actor. He contributed to the success of MBC‘s ‘Miss Ripley‘ and SBS ‘Rooftop Prince‘, and he is truly a new rising star in the acting world.
Suzy who plays a major role in KBS 2TV‘s new drama series ‘Big‘ has also been acknowledged for her sincere and humble attitude. Suzy faced controversy and criticism after KBS 2TV‘s ‘Dream High‘ aired it’s first episode, but as time went on, Suzy displayed more stable and natural acting abilities. That year, KBS awarded Suzy with the Best Rookie Award.
Though she was extremely busy, Suzy made sure she greeted each and every one of the ‘Dream High’ staff members. Thanks to her humble nature, Suzy has been dubbed as a ‘polite idol’ by staff members and fellow actors. This image of hers stayed with her as she moved on to film her movie, ‘Introduction To Architecture‘. Her humble attitude helped her to triumph some big names in the industry and receive the Best Female Rookie award at the 48th Baeksang Arts Awards.
Kim Jaejoong who is trying his hand at his first historical drama through MBC’s ‘Dr. Jin’ surprised his fellow cast members by memorizing all of his lines for his first script reading session.
A representative from the set of ‘Dr. Jin’ remarked, “In the script, he suffers heartless humiliation as the the son of a concubine, but in reality he approaches his role genuinely and his thoughtful personality has earned him popularity amongst his fellow actors, actresses, as well the staff members. He sometimes displays his random and silly sense of humor, which keeps the atmosphere on set lively.”
And Siwan who is being named as the ‘acting idol’ of the new generation had no previous acting experience before he took on his role in MBC‘s ‘Moon That Embraces The Sun‘. But thanks to his sincere attitude, he superbly pulled off his character in the script.
Director Kim Do Hoon had written via his official Twitter page, “Completed shooting with Lim Siwan. If our paths had not unexpectedly crossed the way they did, would Heo Yeom been as popular as he is now? I do not hold back my round of applause for Siwan who debuted with a passionate and sincere heart despite his jam-packed schedule.
Siwan further secured his place in the acting world after taking on roles in KBS ‘Man From The Equator‘, as well as MBC‘s ‘Standby‘.
