With its broadcast day coming closer, MBC’s Arang and the Magistrate began filming, releasing photo stills from the first shoot. On June 21, Shin Min Ah and Lee Joon Gi met as their characters on the set of Arang and the Magistrate in Namyang-ju.
There, the reckless ghostly spirit, Arang, played by Shin Min Ah, sits at the top of a cottage, watching the every move of magistrate, Eun Oh (Lee Joon Gi), as he walks around the village.

Shin Min Ah had to stay on top of the roof for an extended period of time, but managed to complete the scene still smiling, despite the sun shining down on her. The male members of the staff looked to her with concerned eyes, worrying about her skin getting damaged.
In the meanwhile, Lee Joon Gi, paired up with his servant, played by Kwon Oh Joong, gathered laughter with their flawless comedic acting. During breaks, they continued to joke around with the staff members, creating a positive mood during the first filming day.

The drama’s director, Kim Sang Ho, said, “I have nothing really to request from the actors. Just do as if this was your first time. And more importantly, be care of water danger and car accidents.”
Arang and the Magistrate is based off a Korean legend about Arang, a girl who is murdered and returns as a ghost to convince a government office to investigate her wrongful death.
