miss A’s Suzy made her first appearance as a cute little stalker.Suzy got involved in the story of KBS2’s Big through the drama’s June 11 broadcast.
The singer-turned-actor became Jang Ma Ri, who has such a crush on Kang Kyung Joon (Shin Won Ho) that she had to stalk the boy all the way to Korea. When Kyung Joon didn’t answer her phone calls and text messages, Ma Ri dug through Facebook and their yearbook to find Kyung Joon’s high school.
She then sent a message to Kyung Joon saying that she would be returning to Korea, and entered the country.
She met Kyung Joon in Seo Yoon Jae’s (Gong Yoo) body but failed to recognize him, and introduced herself as “the person who’ll marry Kyung Joon.” Yoon Jae told her to “go back to America,” but she insisted boldly that she “really [wants] to get married to Kyung Joon.”
Suzy managed to show off a wide variety of charms through the role, giving the plot new life. Her character came out as bouncy as a rubber ball, and her cute yet unpredictable ‘evil’ girl character actually had her viewers relating to her story.
She especially shone in the scene in which she tried to send a video message to Kyung Joon, telling him she would be going to Korea. Her new image, swaying between good and evil, was completely different from the pure ‘first love’ character she had put on for the film Architecture 101.
Viewers also received her new role favorably. They left comments such as, ‘Suzy’s acting was great’, ‘She was so cute. I’m watching this drama to see Ma Ri’ and ‘Her off-the-wall character suits her well.’
