Who Will Win at the 20’s Choice Awards?

It’s just a day before the one and only summer awards ceremony for youth in their 20s, Mnet’s 20’s Choice Awards, starts up.
Stars will walk not the red carpet, but the blue carpet for the ceremony and put on their hottest (and coolest) styles that can’t be found in any other ceremonies.

The 6th 20’s Choice Awards will again be packed with a fresh wave of top stars, and the stars in the 17 categories are already battling it out in the online pre-vote.

It’s hard to see who will come out victorious in the end, making fans all the more attentive on the results.

The winners are chosen by combining 50 percent of online votes, 30 percent research results among those in their 20s and 20 percent from expert judge scores.

Just before the results come out with the ceremony, we put together a list of the big contenders for each category based on the online vote being held at the 20’s Choice Awards’ official website.

Male Drama Star, Kim Soo Hyun vs Lee Seung Gi

Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Seung Gi are neck to neck in this race. Kim Soo Hyun rose to stardom through MBC’s The Sun and the Moon, and is currently (June 27, 3 p.m.) in the lead with almost 2 million votes.

It’s still too early to be sighing in relief, though. Lee Seung Gi of MBC’s The King 2Hearts is close on his heels. Lee Seung Gi is just behind Kim Soo Hyun with just over 1.65 million votes, but because he’s much loved by women in their 30s and 40s, if his fans join forces and launch an attack, they may be able to turn the situation around.

Female Drama Star, Yoona vs Ha Ji Won

It seems the usual standard of drama success, viewership ratings, doesn’t matter much in this online vote. Yoona of KBS2’sLove Rain, which came to a close at the bottom of the ratings chart, is in the lead with just over 2 million votes, while Ha Ji Won of MBC’s The King 2Hearts is just behind with approximately 1.7 million votes.

Yoona and Ha Ji Won are accompanied by the other nominees, Han Ji Min of SBS’ Rooftop Prince, Shin Se Kyung of SBS’Fashion King and Jung Ryeo Won of SBS’ History of Salaryman. There are always those unexpected factors to take into account, so it’s hard to decide who will be winning in the end.

Trendy Music, Taetiseo vs Big Bang vs SISTAR

The big nominees for the Trendy Music Award are the hottest stars of the first half of the year, Girls’ Generation’s (SNSD) unit group Taetiseo, Big Bang and SISTAR.

Taetiseo is at no. 1 after gathering over 1.75 million votes, but Big Bang and SISTER aren’t far behind.

Will Big Bang or SISTAR overcome, or will Taetiseo, which swept up the trophies this year with Twinkle, stay in the lead?

Female Movie Star, Suzy vs Im Soo Jung

Will it be the ‘Nation’s first love’ Suzy or the ‘Nation’s ideal type’ Im Soo Jung? Suzy, who became the icon of first love among men with the film Architecture 101, is leading the pack.

Suzy is one of the biggest contenders for the award following the success of Architecture 101.

She, however, needs to keep her guard up. Im Soo Jung at no. 2 isn’t far off. Im Soo Jung recently transformed from her pure image to a realistic wife next-door. She could be the winner just like All About My Wife was a success.

Male Movie Star, Yoo Ah In vs Lee Je Hoon

Yoo Ah In of the film Punch and Lee Je Hoon of Architecture 101 is on the first and second spots of this male category. Yoo Ah In is in the lead, so he has the biggest chance of winning that trophy.

Performance, Shinhwa vs SHINee

Shinhwa, with its 30s power, and SHINee, as the icon of the 20s, is battling it out in the performance category. Shinhwa has over 2.1 million votes, while SHINee is close on the group’s heels with just over 2 million.

Shinhwa exploded in popularity in the late-1990s and the early-2000s, and leads a line of support among fans in their late 20s and early 30s. SHINee, on the other hand, leads among teens and those in their 20s. Which fans will come out the stronger? Who will win the trophy; the 1st generation idol or the 3rd generation idol?

Gag Character, Brave Guys vs I-Ddol

It’s a battle between KBS2’s Gag Concert and tvN’s Comedy Big LeagueGag Concert’s Brave Guys and Comedy Big League’s I-Ddol is locked in a close match.

I-Ddol is in the lead with Brave Guys behind, but it’s scraping past with 200,000 more votes. Although I-Ddol leads the online vote, the research results and judge scores can affect the results, making it difficult to forecast who will win in the end.Comedy Big League’s Americano is also in hot pursuit at no.3.

Global Star, Super Junior vs Girls’ Generation (SNSD)

The global star category has become the field for a family feud. SM Entertainment’s Super Junior and SNSD are leading in this category, just 1 percent apart. Will it be SNSD with its strong male fan base or Super Junior with its female support?
